Email Attachment Selector
Email Attachment Selector is a user interface control intended to be used on email record forms.
Records of type Expose Document, Image and Accompanying Document are used to store document files within for.REALESTATE. The files within these records have to be sent to customers. When writing emails in the Dynamics 365 web client, Email Attachment Selector supports by copying files from records to the attachment section of an email record.
Finding Related Documents
When writing an email in the Dynamics 365 web client, helps by finding related document records. To find related document records, follow these steps:
- Open a form to create a new email record.
- Click Save to save the email. Note that saving an email record does not send the email.
- Enter information, such as receipients and text.
- Choose a Regarding record which itself relates to document records.
- Enter a search phrase in the search box of Email Attachment Selector.
- Select the filter properties accordingly.
- Click Search.
- As results appear, select result lines at your desire. Then, click the Add Attachment button.
- The attachments are added to the email record.
- Click Save or Save & New.
Document records can be found if they relate to the regarding record of the email record. The following entities are supported as regarding record in emails in order to find documents:
- Area
- Object
- Quote
- Opportunity
- Lead
- Incident
For these entities, Email Attachment Selector finds documents attached to the regarding record itselft, as well as added the related areas. If, for example, the regarding record is a quote record, documents will be found if they relate to an area which is selected in the quote.
If the regarding record of the email is of on entity other that the ones listed above, Email Attachment Selector will perform a global search, i. e. search for the search string within all document records in the system. Global Search can always be enforced by checking the Global Search checkbox.
By setting the checkboxes for the three document record entity types, only the enabled document types will be searched. So, for example, one can search for expose documents only, avoiding images and accompanying documents.
Remarks
Do not miss to save your email record before using email attachment selector. As attachments for emails can be set only for already saved emails. This behaviour reflects the default behaviour of the Dynamics 365 Web Client: Here, emails have to be saved as well befare adding attachments.
Email Attachment Selector is only available for email record forms in the full web client, i. e. within browsers such as Chrome or Edge (Chromium) on Windows or MacOS computers. Mobile devices such iPad or SmartPhones are not support. The Outlook Web/Mobile Client is not supported.
Quick Create Forms are not supported.
