Stakeholder Roles
A stakeholder is a person or company who has a specific role towards an object or area, or within a sales element, such as opportunity or lead. A Stakeholder Role defines the kind of relationship a someone can have.
Creating Stakeholder Records
To create a stakeholder role record, follow these steps:
- In Dynamics 365 Settings menu, select the Stakeholder Roles button in section for.REALESTATE Settings.
- Click the New button. A new form opens.
- Enter information according to the following information.
- Click Save or Save & New.
The stakeholder role entity contains the following fields:
Field Name | Mandatory | Description |
---|---|---|
Name | Yes | Name of the stakeholder role record. Used in Lookups and most Views of type district. |
Description | Text field containing a description of the given role. | |
Role for Area | Yes | If true, stakeholders of given role may refer to areas. |
Role for Object | Yes | If true, stakeholders of given role may refer to objects. |
Role for Opportunity | Yes | If true, stakeholders of given role may refer to opportunities. |
Role for Lead | Yes | If true, stakeholders of given role may refer to leads. |
Role for Contract | Yes | If true, stakeholders of given role may refer to contracts. |
Remarks
Stakeholder Roles limit the kind of record, towards which someone can relate with a given role. This is set by using the role for X fields, where X can be:
- Area
- Object
- Opportunity
- Lead
- Contract
For example, a role such as Janitor might only be usefull for area and object, but not for contract. If a certain record type is forbidden for a given role, users will see an error message when trying to create the forbidden type of stakeholder.
Stakeholders allow contact, account user and team to relate within a specific role. This set can not be restricted.
After definition, role limitation fields should only be updated carefully, as already defined stakeholders will keep their relation.
Stakeholder roles should have a noun as their name. See the following examples:
- Janitor
- Fire Protection Officer
- Notary
- Property Manager
Stakeholder Roles are defined during the for.REALESTATE project. If you need a stakeholder role that is not available, contact your project lead. Stakeholder Roles should be defined once by administrative personal.
